Porsche is commemorating the rolling out of its 100,000th second generation Cayenne in Leipzig. This coincides with the anniversary year of Porsche’s Saxony site. Wolfgang Leimgruber, Member of the Executive Board of Production and Logistics of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, said that this year, Porsche Leipzig is celebrating a decade of success. It used to be a Greenfield site but is now considered one of the most modern car plants worldwide.

The Leipzig plant produces the Cayenne as well as the Panamera luxury saloon, of which around 70,000 units have been built. Leimgruber added that over 93,800 vehicles were produced by the Leipzig plant in 2011, more than any other year. The 100,000th Cayenne, a “pure white” SUV with a V8 engine, is meant to be shipped to Brazil.

The Cayenne is available in over 124 markets in five model variants covering a power range from 180 kW (245 hp) to 368 kW (500 hp). They also have an average fuel consumption, which range from 7.2 to 11.5 litres per 100 kilometres. The Leipzig plant has been producing the second generation of the Cayenne since 2009. Porsche has delivered more than 360,000 units of the first generation since 2002.
