2011 Skoda Yeti

Škoda has recently rolled out the 100,000th Yeti from its Czech plant Kvasiny. It was only for two years that Škoda has been assembling and selling the Yeti. Aside from the Kvasiny where all UK-sold Yeti are manufactured, this model has also been in production in the Indian city of Aurangabad since 2010. In addition, this model is also assembled in the SKD procedure in Kaluga, Russia. According to Michael Oeljeklaus, the board member for the area of production, the Yeti is a “great success” for Škoda.

He added that the fact that the company already “cracked the threshold” of 100,000 units produced within two years only highlights that success. The Yeti is one of the bestsellers in the market in terms of the popular compact SUV segment. Oeljeklaus further stated that the Yeti plays a vital role in the company’s growth strategy, which is the reason why the company decided to produce in China too, beginning 2013. He added that manufacturing in Shanghai will give the Yeti another boost.

It will also make an important contribution to the internationalization of Škoda. Since it was launched in 2009, the vehicle has enjoyed much success in the markets. It has also widened and enhanced the Škoda model range in an enduring way. During the first four months alone, sales increased 34% from the previous year to 22,100 vehicles. In 2010, the company delivered 52,600 Yetis. The Yeti, which is available with front wheel drive or with 4x4 all-wheel drive, is also available in the eco-friendly GreenLine II variant.
