10,000th Porsche Panamera rolls off assembly line
The 10,000th Porsche Panamera has just rolled out of the production facility in Leipzig, Germany. The lucky owner of the 10,000th car – a silver Turbo model - is said to be a resident of Singapore.
Porsche has been maximizing operations at its factory in order to keep up with the demand for the sporty sedan. Production began in April but the car was only offered to customers beginning September. To date, Porsche has secured 9,000 orders for the car. The carmaker plans to sell about 20,000 units annually. It is speculated that a convertible version will come out and if this is true, it’s likely that it will boost its sales further. So far, the all-wheel-drive, 400-hp Panamera 4S ($94,750, including a $950 destination charge) has proven to be the frontrunner in orders, accounting for nearly 44% of production. The range-topping Panamera Turbo, which starts at $133,550, accounts for 36% of all production.
