The historic 1952 Jaguar C-Type, s/n XKC-007 sold for $2,530,000 at an auction at the RM's Sports & Classics of Monterey event in California. The XKC-007, which was driven by Phil Hill's son Derek during the auction, was one of the first C-Types delivered to North America. In 1952, Phil Hill, at 25 years old, drove the car at Elkhart Lake to claim the C-Type's first North American victory. He went on to achieve further success at Torrey Pines that same year. Ian Kelleher, President & Chief Operating Officer of RM Auctions, said that he was pleased with the results of the auction, which had so far sold 85% of the 239 cars. Its current sales total now exceeds $34 million.
