RM Auctions announced that a rare 1955 Ferrari 375 MM Berlinetta by Pininfarina will be one of those featured at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d’Este that will take place on May 21 at Lake Como. Expected to fetch up to $5 million, this vehicle was the last 375 MM built and is believed to be the last Ferrari to bear the ‘Mille Miglia’ designation. The car, which is finished in two-tone ivory and metallic blue, was displayed on the Ferrari stand at the Turin Motor Show in 1955.
It then went back to Pininfarina for a series of minor modifications before being delivered to its first owner. Eventually, the car was exported to the United States in 1960, where it stayed for the next 50 years. In 2003, it was restored by Wayne Obry’s Motion Products Inc. to its Turin Motor Show specifications.
Since then, the car was showcased at several of the world’s most prestigious concours events, such as the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2004 (where it got the ‘Best in Class’ award) and the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2005.
