Wouldn't you want to have an extremely rare classic Ferrari in your collection? But first you would need to have several million dollars lying around. If you're interested, make sure that you attend a public auction for a Ferrari 250 GTO at RM Auctions. From 1962 to 1963, only 36 examples were produced. Remarkably, each of these cars still exists. Typically, when 250 GTOs are sold, the transactions are done behind closed doors and never disclosed to the public. It is widely believed that a 250 GTO was sold a few years ago for $30 million. The car currently up for auction has chassis no.
4675 GT and has been raced in the full range of competitive events, including hillclimbs, endurance races and rallies. RM Auctions said that the 4675 GT got into the hands of the present owner in 1996. This owner maintained the car in his world-renowned Japanese collection since then. The 4675 GT was most recently seen participating in the ultra-private events reserved only for GTO owners, namely the 35th and 45th GTO Anniversary Tours in France and California.
Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe, said that the Ferrari GTO is "unquestionably one of the most iconic and coveted cars in the world." Girardo added that the upcoming auction is a rare occasion for collectors to get in their possession a major piece of automotive history. He expressed his pleasure at being chosen by the 4675 GT's current custodian to represent it on the open market.
