2008 LA Design Challenge: Bmw Hydrogen Powered Salt Flat Racer
Bmw, in keeping with environmentally safer cars, has produced a hydrogen-powered salt flat racer based on the idea of Reuse instead of recycle. This notion make use of the readily available, common, everyday materials, such as old oil drums and barbeque hoods, as main construction components for the body and wheel discs.
Safe, imaginative and maintainable, the scheme uses the principle of “canaries-in-a-coal-mine” to make sure that the vehicle is producing clean emissions. The wheels are made of gel-nylon for the needed flexibility, but permitting the tires to be airless and capable of re-vulcanizing and re-treading. Photos after the jump!
