The Chinese independent carmaker Byd Auto Company has reveled its intentions to join the American market by the year 2011 with a lineup of plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles such as the F3DM, the world's first mass-manufactured plug-in hybrid sedan, and the exclusively battery-propelled e6, which is a 5-passenger mid-sized sedan that comes with an astonishing range of 250 miles on a single battery charge.
Wnag Chuanfu, Byd Chairman and President, said at the Detroit Auto Show that they are planning to setup manufacturing plants in the US when they find it appropriate. The support for Byd's strategic vision of green technology for the future is its very own Fe battery which can be quick-charged to 50 percent of its capacity in just a mere 10 minutes and has a claimed life-cycle in excess of 10 years, is extremely safe, totally eco-friendly, and less expensive. This is the battery that powers the e6 including the company's latest Dual Mode range of plug-in hybrid vehicles and also the F3DM compact sedan and the F6DM mid-sized sedan which comes equipped with a pure-electric or hybrid-electric driving mode.
