2009 Fisker Karma to be produced by Valmet in Finland

Fisker KarmaThe first cars will be coming out of the Valmet assembly lines beginning in the last quarter of 2009 with an expected production of 15,000 units in the initial year. Fifty percent of the vehicles will be marketed in North America and the remaining vehicles will stay in Europe. It was in April when Fisker named its first European carrier, Fisker Italia, and earlier this month it selected a second carrier to handle sales in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. In an announcement made at the formalizing of the fresh agreement earlier today, Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker verified that there were plans in position to employ an American manufacturing location for future versions of the Fisker Karma. More details and photos after the jump! The latest Karma is anticipated to have a price tag of $80,000 in the U.S. but will probably have a higher tag in Europe. If it will do well, Fisker in due course will surely launch a later model priced at half as much although such a vehicle is still away by several years. With a total of 350 miles of total travel distance including 50 miles of electrically powered travel, the Fisker Karma with its exclusive Q-Drive powertrain designed by Quantum Technologies, will have the latent fuel efficiency mark in excess of 100mpg (2.35L/100km). Sprint from 0-60mph is attained at less than six seconds and ceiling speed will be restricted to 125mph. Like Chevrolet‚ forthcoming Volt plug-in, the latest Karma is propelled entirely by an electric motor and the internal combustion engine is used exclusively for battery charging.
