In spite of the poor worldwide vehicle sales, Ford is going through early success with its latest global version, the Fiesta. The Fiesta, designed and developed in Europe, is the first version to be available on sale in the global markets of Ford. After two months of being available in Europe, Ford has succeeded in selling in excess of 42,200 Fiestas in spite of the poor economy. Just behind the Focus, the Fiesta has speedily become Ford's second best-selling model. Even though sales are down throughout the industry, the success of Fiesta has enabled Ford to boost its market share in the EU for November, behind only to Volkswagen. The firm asserts that about 50% of Fiesta customers are choosing expensive trim packs, adding to the total sales numbers. The Fiesta is presently only offered in Europe and South Africa. Early next year, it will go on sale in Australia, China, and New Zealand, with the other Asian markets receiving it in 2010. It will also be in 2010 when the problematic US market and other North American outlets will receive the new Fiesta, manufactured in a retooled truck factory located in Mexico.
