After a successful inauguration in the summer at the British Motor Show, the new Focus RS has finally reached its showroom-ready appearance, and the most current details and authorized photos emerged on the web.
Colored with Performance Blue paint, the vehicle brings back memories of the 1992 Escort RS Cosworth and the initial Focus RS MkI models. However, the latest version takes the performance of hot hatchback to a new level, with a restricted-slip differential special suspension and a powerful 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged powerhouse which will propel it from standstill to 60mph in under 6 seconds.
Even though prices have not yet been established, it will be priced under GBP£25,000 ($37,370). There are 1,500 people who have already made an order for the new car, and they will be pleased to see that the RS's hard line appearance stays true to the striking concept. There's a shiny black grill, in addition to circular spotlights and engine hood air intakes at the front, while the back receives a spoiler motivated by the world contender by Ford and a dual exhaust pipe diffuser.
Finishing the stunning appearance are 19-inch multispoke alloy rims clothed with low-profile rubber. In the interior, the RS brags Recaro seats with body-matching colored detailing, carbon fiber trim on the middle console and a gearlever that is made of brushed aluminum. Beneath the hood is a 296 hp variant of the 5-cylinder engine from the Focus ST. It propels the RS from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds and on to a hypothetical ceiling speed of more than 160mph, however production copies will be limited electronically to 155 mph (250 km/h) only.
Conveying the energy to the road is an Automatic Torque Biasing restricted-slip differential, which was designed by Quaife, the British engineering expert. It functions in concurrence with the new RevoKnuckle suspension by Ford, a revised MacPherson strut configured with unique geometry, to optimize traction and restrict torque steer.
Upgraded stability control, a broader track, reduced ride height and larger brakes round off the pack. Luxurious standard kit is anticipated, while surface colors consist of the Performance Blue, Frozen White and Ultimate Green, the motif of the British Motor Show car. Customers can expect the initial deliveries beginning in March.
