2009 Frankfurt Motor Show: Lotus Elise Club Racer

Lotus Elise Club Racer

Lotus is coinciding the launch of its special edition Elise, called the Lotus Club Racer, with the start of the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15. Similar to the basic Elise, the Club Racer uses the entry-level model's Toyota-sourced 1.8-litre engine and five-speed manual gearbox. This allows the car to go from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 127mph. However, the Club Racer's color schemes are described as modern with a classic twist, which is reminiscent of the Elite and Elan models of the 1960s.

Available colors for the Club Racer are yellow, gray, white, and the sky blue shade seen on last year's Exige Club Racer, which was available in a limited run of 25 cars. The colors are mirrored on the cabin's metalwork, along with silver and black accents. Club Racer logos are found on the transmission tunnel and embroidered on the seatbacks.

Lightweight microfiber cushioning is used for the seats and the steering wheel is finished in black leather with a silver center marker. Special touches to its interiors include the anthracite-colored anodized aluminum flooring, gear knob and handbrake cover. The Club Racer is fitted with anthracite six-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in bespoke rubber from Yokohama. The Club Racer costs exactly the same as a standard Elise S at £26,662.
