The German company EDAG, which has been providing engineering services since 1969 and is well known for its concept cars including the LUV and the Volkwagen Beetle-based Biwak, will be introducing its latest concept designated the Light Car. It is representative of EDAG's vision for an environmentally-safe car if the future.
A ground-breaking feature of the EDAG Light Car concept is the utilization of basaltic fiber, which is a lightweight, 100% recyclable and stable material supplied by ASA.TEC. The new car is propelled by electric drive systems mounted on each of its wheels from lithium-ion batteries enabling the car to reach a range of 150 km (93 miles). The Light Car features a totally customizable dash where the driver can move gauges anywhere, anytime just like rearranging the icons on a computer's desktop. On the exterior, LED lighting technology becomes part of the glass panes with LED lamps outlining the front and rear lights, with tailgates that can double as a screen for projecting lighted messages to the driver following at the rear.
