Not to be outdone in the hot-hatch category, Renault introduced an uprated Megane Renault Sport 250 today at the Geneva Motor Show. Although it is not coming with an Alpine mark, with an extra 25hp and a lineup of sport suspensions, enthusiasts won´t be minding. The distinctive design of the Megane Renault Sport 250 consists of a spectacular front air splitter, LED daytime running lights, broadened sills and 18 inch rims. The interior has apparently been influenced by motorsport where the seats are heavily reinforced and the analog tachometer comes with audible and visual shift indicators. A unique steering wheel equipped with thumb grips along with aluminum pedals assist in improving driving pleasure.
Power under the hood is provided by a 2.0 liter turbocharged 16-valve unit generating 250hp and a torque of 340Nm. This number is 20hp over the power numbers of the Megane R26.R. The quick response twin-turbo offers a broad power range which is channeled to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. Even the audio of the engine has been tuned to attain the perfect babble. The suspension is still the same, but the RS250 come with one of two sport suspension options. For daily driving, the regular sport chassis offers responsiveness, while the more extreme Cup suspension comes with a limited-slip differential. Both suspensions come with revised electronic power steering and a stability control system that can be conveniently removed for track day use.
