New pictures of the all-fresh Infiniti G37 Convertible have been made available as the car made its world debut today at the 2008 LA Auto Show. Still the first G Convertible patterned after the newest generation G37 Coupe with which it has in common the 3.7-liter V6 engine appraised in the U.S. at 325HP. The engine is supported by a selection of an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with offered magnesium paddle shifters or a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. Accommodating four passengers, the G37 Convertible keeps a coupe-like silhouette with the roof up courtesy of a three-piece folding hardtop that permits the utilization of a shorter rear overhang and low boot lid. Compared to the G37 Coupe, the Convertible employs all-new body panels from the A-pillar back, together with a 28mm broader overall width, expanded rear track and revised rear suspension according to Infiniti. With the press of a button on the middle console, the foldable hardtop deposits in an estimated 30 seconds, which is about 8 seconds more than what the BMW 3-Series Convertible requires for the same procedure.
The Convertible preserves the interior arrangement of the Coupe variant adding a pop-up bar at the back and present audio speakers on the headrest, wind deflector and seats equipped with climate control. Included in other technological highlights are standard RearView Monitor and a touch-screen Infiniti Navigation system that comes with XM NavTraffic Real-Time Traffic information with 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive, Pre-Crash Seat Belts, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with Preview Braking and Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS). Two models of the G Convertible are offered in the Unites States, the G37 Convertible and the G37S Convertible Sport 6MT, which comes with additional sport-tuned steering and bigger sport brakes, together with 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and W-rated performance rubber.
Offered also is a unique, limited production G37 Convertible Premier Edition, available solely via the Bloomingdale's Holiday Catalog. Highlighted in the Premier Edition is a custom Monaco Red Leather leather-selected interior, crafted by hand red-tone Maple Wood trim, Midnight Black front grille and 9-spoke 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and rubber. There is reliable information released that only 200 will be built with pre-orders currently being taken for delivery in 2009. The G37 Convertible will be available for sale at Infiniti dealerships early in 2009 for entire U.S. outlets and will be available in late summer of the same year in Europe.
