Having been on the market since the early part of 2008, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, as the successor to the most successful Lamborghini of all-time, since 2003, has produced in excess of 8,500 units from its production facility in Sant'Agata Bolognese. The Gallardo Spyder in the current generation represents automotive passion at its highest. Just as it is in the Coupe, its tremendous potency is produced by the new 5.2 liter V10 with a yield of 560 horsepower (412 kW) at 8,000 rpm. The improvement in 40 horsepower (29 kW) over its predecessor, as well as the 44 pound (20 kilogram) lowering in vehicle weight, enhances the power-to-weight ratio to 6.10 pounds (2.77 kg) per horsepower, thus pushing performance even further. Acceleration rate for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder is only 4.0 seconds from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h), achieving 124 mph (0 to 200 km/h) in just 13.1 seconds and having a ceiling speed of 201 mph (324 km/h). In spite of the significant improvement in performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by an astounding 18 percent. The fresh headlights have distinctive daytime running lights incorporated under the bi-xenon lamps. 15 LED lights are configured in a Y shape, with the same replicating in the rear tail-lights. The rear and brake lights were motivated by the Miura concept, the Murcieago LP640 and the Reventon. The Y-shaped formations are currently the signature features of modern Lamborghini variants, appearing most currently in the Estoque concept car, the ground-breaking super sports sedan from Sant'Agata. The latest exhaust system is attractively rounded off by four chrome-plated tail pipes. The rear diffuser has been revised to produce extra downforce and, along with the sleek underbody, it adds to the vehicle's exceptional directional stability, even at top speeds. Total, aerodynamic efficiency in terms of downforce has been enhanced considerably in contrast to its predecessor. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder deals with rapid curves with even greater refinement. Whether the tip is on or not, the flow of the lines clearly displays that the Spyder is a totally self-contained version within the Gallardo series. In contrast with the Coupe, the open top model appears just a little bit radical; its shoulders have been raised a little so that there will be more space for the soft top. The totally-lined fabric top, offered in black, blue, grey and beige, is run through two switches found on the center console.

The new series production "Apollo" wheels highlight a double-spoke design. A series of extra options provide additional comfort and convenience together with a navigation system, a hands-free Bluetooth mobile phone interface, anti-theft equipment and a rear view camera. Additional option includes a lifting system for the front axle, which raises the body at the touch of a button to make obstacle-negotiation easier.
