The recently unveiled Chrysler 200C EV concept is intended to underscore the future designs including powertrain technology of its premium sedans. The enhancements continue into the interior where the vehicle will come with "techno leaf," which is a multimedia screen for both driver and front passenger. The 200C EV is decidedly an eco-friendly package with rear-wheel drive powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain which comes with a 268hp (200kW) electric motor on lithium-ion batteries as the main power source. A secondary power source is a compact internal combustion engine which activates to charge the batteries when it senses that power is about to be used up.
This system enables the car to reach 40 miles on an all-battery power with zero emissions and in excess of 400 miles when the gasoline engine is utilized. It comes with an acceleration rate of 0-60mph in 7 seconds, can finish the quarter mile in the mid-14 seconds, and attains a top speed of more than 120mph. Even though the concept car's powertrain have been utilized in other vehicles which are also being showcased on the Detroit Auto Show, the 200C EV concept is an advance demonstration of the new design language of Chrysler. A contemporary rendition of the winged Chrysler logo can be found on its front end as its current grill constantly shape and improve Chryslers image.
The organic form of the car is accentuated by highly detailed headlights and taillights which utilizes LED for its details. The interior reflects nature with its leaf green LED lighting and stitching highlight the organic design once more as a palette of natural colors like pearl, graphite and leaf green used in the trim join the scheme. A large screen on the instrument panel, which is activated when the machine is turned on and which contains a host of electronic information, greet those who enter the vehicle. The screen uses touch screen technology and serves as the nerve center for the car's interface. Through the touch screen, the driver can do a host of things such as move images, choose infotainment options and customize images, backgrounds, mood, volume and lighting. The front passenger has his own set of computer interface system that contains personal climate controls and infotainment system and located in the glove compartment and is activated by the touch of the techno-leaf. From this touch screen computer, one can surf the Web, scroll through personal media library, input car maintenance schedules or even send directions to the driver's multimedia screen. Chrysler is silent about whether the 200C is already set for production as either a hybrid or standard sedan.
