At last, Nissan has unwrapped its all-new 2009 370Z at the LA Auto Show. Although photos have been available since the previous month, today the price tag was made available (basic MSRP of $29,930) and a large quantity of technical data at the roll-out. There may be some controversy concerning the new styling, but it will be difficult to miss the considerable enhancements Nissan did in the new car's interior. The materials, fit, and finish are all outstanding, especially if you contrast the new car to the old side-by-side. Addressing weight (a common complaint on the 350Z), Nissan put the new car on a weight loss program. Nissan engineers have succeeded in removing several hundred pounds in comparison to the retiring 350Z. The slender standard model with a 6-speed manual now weighs just 3,232 pounds compared to the 2008 350Z Enthusiast Model which weighed in at about 3,350 pounds. Three things: extra power, a tougher chassis and a significantly enhanced interior.
