Beginning this March the brand new 2009 Porsche Boxster and Cayman will arrive in the US with the latest technology, increased potency, and an increased pricing compared to the retiring model. The Boxster will begin with $46,000 and the Boxster S with $56,700, while the Cayman begins at $50,300 and the Cayman S at $60,200. These new models receive a price increase representing
1.8 percent in contrast to the retiring 2008 versions but you get more with these new Porsches like the new Direct Fuel Injection technology that improves power yield in both models. The standard 2.9-liter flat-six will boost power yield for the Boxter by 255 hp and the Cayman with 265 hp, while the S-level 3.4-liter powerplant will now generate 310 hp in the convertible and 320 hp for its fixed roof brother.
A 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission is also currently available which comes with manual paddle shifters minus the clutch. Although these powertrains boost power yields for Porsche models they likewise enhance fuel economy with recorded combined estimates in excess of 25 mpg.
