2009 Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic III photos hit the web

Closely following the new Megane hatchback and Megane Coupe versions that were unveiled at the Paris Motor Show will be the Renault’s third generation Scenic minivan that’s going to be available for buyers early in 2009.

An early preview of this mid-size passenger carrier has been made available because of the EU patent office’s official application photos.The white and black images show that the source of inspiration of the Renault’s design team was the Laguna Coupe and not the new Megane hatchback.

Obviously, the French manufacturer will maintain its strategy of providing a two-model line-up for its new mid-size passenger carrier: the five-seater Scenic III and the seven-seater Grand Scenic which sports an extended wheelbase.

Both French models of the minivan are mostly based on the foundations of the 2009 Megane hatchback with which they will use the same engine line-up. Options for diesel engines will include 1.5 dCi 85hp, 150hp, and 110hp together with more powerful 130 hp, 150 hp, and 160 hp variants. The gas engine alternatives will be composed of 100 and 110 hp 1.6 liter versions, a 140 hp 2.0 liter engine and the turbocharged 130 hp 1.4TCe and 180 hp 2.0TCe versions.

The new Scenic is anticipated to continue many of the features of its predecessor such as, the roomy cabin with lots of storage compartments as well as a multipurpose interior with totally flexible seats that can either be folded or removed to increase storage area.
