2010 Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI
Audi's latest supercar, the R8 Spyder, had just been launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Priced from €156,400 , the R8 Spyder is the Ingolstadt company's most expensive ever. The new drop-top has the same 518bhp 5.2-litre V10 and all-wheel drive system as the 5.2 FSI R8 coupe. Despite extensive structural strengthening, the car only added 100 kg of weight. An insider had said that torsional rigidity won't be a problem. The upper rear wings and the rear deck use carbonfiber-reinforced plastic. Two rows of cooling vents dominate the rear deck. The fabric hood folds away in just 19sec at speeds of up to 31mph. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds, same as the hardtop‚ record. However, the R8 Spyder‚ top speed is a bit lower. The model will go on sale next spring. A more affordable V8 model will soon follow.
