The brand new Buick LaCrosse by GM is an executive saloon patterned after the Vauxhall Insignia that is going to be Buick's chief offering and a vehicle that will change the brand's long-standing image problem. Having become a major contender in the Chinese market the vehicle received a largely Chinese treatment particularly in its architecture and interior design, except for its exterior and overall engineering which were done in Detroit.
Intended to rival the Lexus, and coming with seamless, individual ride dynamics and with a completely quiet interior, the LaCrosse is scheduled for launch in the third quarter of this year with two direct injection engine options. The 3.0-liter V6 will generate 256 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.6-liter V6 will push it to 276 hp and 261 lb-ft, with sprint time for 0-60 mph in 6 seconds.
The vehicle is loaded with the most current technology which includes panic brake assist, overhead display and a monitor for side blind spot. If the LaCrosse is to succeed in getting back its place in the US auto industry, it has to ride the success of the Enclave SUV.
