2010 Buick LaCrosse to receive the 2.4L four-cylinder engine

The 2010 Buick LaCrosse will be receiving a new powerplant addition from GM. The new engine is the 2.4L I-4, which is also shared with the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and comes with direct fuel injection which Buick hopes will appeal to buyers who are looking for luxurious features but at the same time come with outstanding fuel economy also. The initial announcement made by GM had the 2010 Buick LaCrosse coming with only direct injection V6 powerplants, including a 3.0 and a 3.6-liter version. Although these powerplants will still be available for the model range, they will only be in the higher trim levels, while the 2.4L I-4 will come with the CX model as standard.
The powerplant will be married to the same 6-speed transmission utilized on V6 models, giving it a fuel economy rating of 20mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway. Although these don't look much, it is still an improvement over the FWD 2010 Lincoln MKZ that rated 18mpg and 27mpg for city and highway, respectively.
No pricing details for the LaCrosse have been released at this point, although it is anticipated that the four-cylinder version will lead the pricing. Both the four and six cylinder 2010 LaCross models are scheduled to hit Buick dealerships this fall. Although the bigger Acura TL is a rival, with the arrival of the 2.4L LaCrosse CX, however, Buick is put at a position to directly compete with the smaller Acura TSX.
