Another modified Camaro is coming up right after the Lingenfelter 800hp Camaro and the ASC Creative Services Pontiac Trans AM came out. The most current modified variant scheduled to compete on the black top this coming June is the top-of-the-range SS which has received a couple of GTK350 turbochargers for an approximate power yield of 600hp (448kW). This time the tuning specialist for the Camaro is Artisan Performance in partnership with Turbochargers.com and the finished vehicle will be sold for $69,000 as a turnkey pack.
Artisan was the firm responsible for the turbocharged IS-F SEMA show car last year and the plan is to bring the tuning principles applied on the Lexus to the Camaro SS.
The upgrades consist of a high-flow exhaust system with a race-spec catalytic converter, a bespoke intercooler and wastegate, and an obligatory ECU upgrade to take car of fuel mapping and increase control required by cars equipped with turbochargers. To make the car as distinct from others as possible, new bumpers, 21 inch forge alloys with 22 inch wheels as optional, 14 inch brakes, a new lip spoiler and a built-in rear air diffuser will be included by Artisan in its tuning package.
