2010 Chevrolet Equinox

The imminent 2010 Equinox crossover from Chevrolet is currently expected to come with higher fuel economy numbers than initially expected by GM, and consequently putting it ahead in it class with regards to being the most efficient vehicle. The Equinox is a 4-cylinder, front-wheel-drive vehicle that can return 32 mpg on highway driving, which is two mpg better than the original forecast.

GM now foresees city fuel consumption to be at an average of 22 mpg, about 1mpg higher than preceding figures. These figures have not yet been officially confirmed by the EPA, but GM seems assured that these numbers will hold when the testing has been gotten over with.

The Equinox is driven by a 2.4-liter Ecotec, 4-cylinder unit that generates 182 hp. A more potent 3.0-liter DOHC V6 powerplant with 264hp will also be offered, with an 18mpg fuel economy rating in city driving and 25 mpg on the highway in FWD configuration. The Chevrolet Equinox will be hitting dealership with a $23,185 base price.
