At the Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler will be displaying a Lancia Delta carrying a Chrysler grille. But before fans in the US get excited, please know that Chrysler has no immediate plans to sell the car in North America. A spokesman said that instead, the car has been displayed to signal the eventual merger of Lancia and Chrysler. Fiat is also set to display an all-electric Fiat 500 on the stand.
Vehicles from Fiat's luxury offshoots are expected to go on display. This includes the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Maserati GranCabrio. The 500 hatchback will go on sale in the US in late 2010, while the 500C will go on sale in 2011.
Chrysler will produce the North American 500 at its plant in Toluca, Mexico starting next year, offering it with a 1.4-liter petrol engine ranging from 99bhp to 173bhp.
