2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak announced by Mopar

2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak
Production begins this summer for the 2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. Notably, this is the second time that Dodge has created a limited-edition Challenger that cannot be used on city roads. Dodge has removed features that would slow the car down and these include airbags, power windows and an audio system. Dodge removed car parts that total to about 1,000 pounds. The only place that the Challenger could be used is on the drag strip. The car is equipped with a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 and a choice of a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
Chrysler Group's Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care group, has created the Drag Pak. Last year, 100 cars were produced. For this year, the number of units and the performance figures have not yet been revealed. Pietro Gorlier, CEO of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, said in a statement that it is proud of its drag-racing heritage and that it will strive to continue support for its drag-race customers.
The car, which is priced at $39,999, features specific drag-race components, including composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, polycarbonate door windows, lightweight cooling module with electric fan, manual steering, special lightweight front-brake assemblies and cable-operated throttle linkage and pedal assembly.
