2010 Ford S-Max and Galaxy unveiled prior to Brussels Motor Show debut

2010 Ford S-Max Galaxy Facelift
Watch out for the launching of Ford's European versions of its new Ecoboost petrol engine in the facelifted S-Max and Galaxy at the Brussels motor show. With a badge that says STCi, the new turbocharged 2.0-liter motor delivers 200bhp and 221lb ft, taking the S-Max to 62mph in 8.5sec. That makes it more than 2.0sec faster than the 2.3-liter model it replaces. It also gets 25% more power compared to its outgoing unit. CO2 emission are cut 19% to 189g/km. Combined fuel economy is 34.8mpg, while all STCi models get Ford's Powershift dual-clutch gearbox. The upgraded 2.0-litre diesel is offered with three different outputs: 113bhp, 138bhp and 161bhp. Emissions for the entry-level diesel are recorded at 152g/km of CO2; this engine has a combined economy figure of 49.5mpg. An option on these models is the powershift gearbox.
The two models get new lights, including LED tail-lights. The higher-priced S-Max models will feature LED daytime running lights as standard. Styling modifications include new fascias, bonnets and lower grilles on both models. The Galaxy is given new fog lights and roof rails. For its interior, Ford has improved quality by offering new materials and colors. The two models will also use Ford's Fold Flat System for the second and third rows of seats to increase load capacity. When it comes to technology, the models also get a rear camera, Ford's blind spot information system and a speed limiter device. The grand unveiling will be at the Brussels motor show on January 13. It will continue to be built together with the Mondeo at Ford's Genk plant in Belgium. Pricing has yet to be announced.
