At the Geneva Motor Show, the Citroen DS3 Racing -- a rival to the Mini John Cooper Works -- was introduced. Compared to the standard car, the car is lower and has higher-performance brakes. Only 1,000 units of the Citroen DS3 Racing will go on sale. Designer Mark Lloyd has confirmed almost all of its design; in fact, decals are feasible for production. Powering the car is a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, which produces 197bhp and 203lb ft.
Citroen's Racing department was able to achieve these gains by tuning the turbocharger, remapping the ECU and adding a new sports exhaust system. Citroen Racing also gave the car a set of stiffer suspension springs. Its new front and rear shock absorbers widened the rear tracks by 30mm and lowered the car by 15mm. Special brakes were fitted. Citroen Racing improved the car's handling by tuning both the ESP and steering.
Styling modifications include a new lower body trim and wing extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome trim on the door handles and exhaust tip, and special chequered graphics on the roof. For its interior, we see carbon trim on the dashboard and a center console and steering wheel. The car also becomes highly distinctive with the vibrant orange theme featured on the dash and gearknob.
