At the Geneva Motor Show, Kia's eco version of the Cee'd hatchback certainly attracted a lot of interest. Kia wants this car to be an ambassador for its "EcoDynamics's" fuel-efficient lineup. Kia based this car on the five-door version of the Cee'd. It boasts a CO2 emissions figure of 98 grams per kilometer. When compared to the current cleanest model in the Cee'd range (with CO2 emissions figure of 110 grams/kilometer), this "green's" version actually represents an 11% reduction in emissions. Powering the EcoDynamics Cee'd is a 1.6-liter diesel unit, generating 90 hp at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 235 Nm, available from 1,900 to 2,750 rpm.
The car has been given a bespoke ECU remap and it also now features a different fuel injection management. Kia redesigned its alternator and water pump to improve the efficiency. Furthermore, the engine uses a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that is coupled to a re-engineered gearbox that shows an increased top gear ratio. Both the engine and the gearbox use low-viscosity lubricants.
Additional features of this car include a Stop and Go system and an electric power steering system. Its suspension is lowered by 15mm, while its 16-inch rims are shod in low rolling resistance Michelin tires. While the car uses an airflow-optimizing underfloor, each of its wheels receives air deflectors that are complemented by a tailgate spoiler.
