2010 Honda Element recalled due to a manual transmission cable issue

2010 Honda Element

A recall may soon be announced for the 2010 Honda Element due to a problem with a manual transmission cable. A total of 585 units of this sport-utility vehicle that have defective gear shifters could be included in the recall. According to the examinations done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Honda, the affected Elements were equipped with a shifter cable that may not be properly attached to the shift lever bracket. As a result, the driver may be confused since the vehicle won't be in the selected gear. Potentially, this would lead to operational problems or at worst, an accident. Due to these findings, a stop-sale has also been issued. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 10V361000, while Honda's recall campaign number is R45. Owners of this vehicle may contact Honda at 800-999-1009. They may also contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236 or on the Web at Safercar.gov.
