Just recently, Honda has provided the first look at the American specification, production variant of the brand new 2010 Insight hybrid which will be introduced to the world at the Detroit Auto Show this January.The most current image of the US variant of Honda's production hybrid demonstrate how the Insight Concept, originally displayed in October 2008 in Paris, will be converted into an aerodynamically motivated, sporty looking street vehicle. The new five-door, five-passenger Insight is propelled by a lighter, more compact variant of Honda's IMA hybrid system which, come spring, will be available for customers.
200,000 Insights are anticipated to be sold globally each year and will use a fresh interactive, driver-oriented fuel efficiency improvement technology called the Ecological Drive Assist System.
This ground-breaking feedback system provides the drivers instantaneous information about their driving performance, to aid them lower their fuel usage and Carbon Dioxide discharges. Honda, a leader in the design of cleaner, more fuel-economical vehicles, introduced the first low-emission gasoline vehicles; the first gas-electric hybrid vehicle in Europe and North America, and the, FCX, the planet's first EPA-certified hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. Honda was named "greenest automaker" in 2007 four times in a row by the Union of Concerned Scientists.
