2010 Hyundai Equus priced at $60,000
Hyundai is ready to release, by the summer of 2010, the second generation of the luxury sedan Equus but it seems that it is oriented only for the American market. Some inside voices say that the standard model will cost around $60,000 being in direct competition with Lexus LS 460.
The new model will be powered, at choice, by a 3.8L V6 or a 4.6L V8(this one being earmarked for the US), both taken from the Genesis. “We’ve established a baseline with the success of our Genesis. If the price is in the 50s or high 40s and we can keep the residuals on par with Genesis, we might have something,” says Scott Fink, chairman of Hyundai’s dealer council. Currently, about 100 Equus units are being tested by dealers and consumers in the USA. Rick Case, an American Hyundai dealer claims with regards to the new Equus: “It’s an incredible car. It won’t be big volume for us. It will be a halo car for the brand.” Photo gallery after the jump!
