2010 Kia Sorento SUV revealed ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show

2010 Kia Sorento

The new seven-seater Kia Sorento SUV will be launched at this September's Frankfurt Motor Show. Engineered to be more aerodynamic, the new Sorento is lower and longer than the current model, with length increased to 4685mm from 4567mm on the previous model. Drag coefficient is now 0.38, down from 0.43. Said to "incorporate Kia's new design language," the new Sorento's interior is more spacious and luxurious. Powering the car is a 2.2-liter diesel unit, producing 194bhp and 310lb ft of torque. It will be mated to either a six-speed manual or Kia's new six-speed auto transmission. Panu Vainamo, Kia's European manager for marketing, said that the company has created an all-new "Highline Cruiser" that offers the benefits of an all-rounder. Without losing the model's off-road ability, Kia has produced a road-biased set-up for the new Sorento. Features include keyless entry, an engine start button, in-mirror reversing camera and a panoramic glass sunroof. The new Kia Sorento is expected to go on sale in 2010. Pricing has not been revealed.
