Porsche has introduced its 2011 911 Speedster at the 2010 LA Auto Show! This particular model is inspired by the 356 Speedster, the first one to have such a name. Only 356 units of the 911 Speedster will be built and each will have a starting price of EUR201,682 ($263,667). The 911 Speedster will be launched in December. This car is available in a color made especially for Porsche called “Pure Blue” but can also be ordered in Carrera White. This car has contrasting features like black headlight rings, tinted front lights, black windscreen contour and others. The interior, which boasts a black leather finish, has exclusive details like special leather side bolsters and checkerboard patterns for the seat center section.
Compared to its siblings, the 911 Speedster rides 60 mm closer to the road and is 44 mm wider at the rear. The 911 Speedster has special front and rear aprons and new side skirts. It windscreen has a more raked appearance, the soft top has a double-bubble hardcover, and the sporty-look manual hood has a flat contour. The 911 Speedster is driven by the same engine as the Porsche 911 GTS. Producing 408 hp (23 more than the Carrera S), the 3.8-liter flat six is fitted at the car’s rear.
This car is paired with a seven-speed PDK double clutch gearbox. Power is distributed to the rear wheels through a standard differential lock. Standard features of the 911 Speedster are the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The 911 Speedster also has an enhanced rollover protection system.
