Lotus Esprit Concept

Set to debut in spring 2013, the new Lotus Esprit comes with a price tag of around GBP110,000 ($173,000). To everyone’s surprise, Lotus introduced the 2013 Esprit Concept at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Paying homage to the legendary Esprit, the new car has the potential to be the ultimate supercar. The new Esprit will be fitted with an optional KERS hybrid technology found on the Formula 1 cars. It weighs 1,450 kg and is a potential rival for many supercars available on the market.

The Esprit, paired to a 7-speed DCT, has a powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine and can deliver up to 620 hp and 720 Nm of torque, making it capable of achieving a sprint of 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and hitting a maximum speed of 330 km or 205 mph.

Group Lotus’ Chief Executive Officer Dany Bahar says the Esprit’s design is aggressive but still maintains a level of class, dignity and exclusivity. He says that the 2013 Esprit looks “incredible but it has the performance to match.” He reveals that in designing this model to be the “leader of the pack,” the company stuck to the Lotus core values of performance by making it lightweight and by utilizing future technology and exceptional engineering.
