2010 Lexus LS 600h L: official details and specs

2010 Lexus LS 600h L

This is the facelifted L version of the LS 600h hybrid presented to us by Toyota's luxury division Lexus. It can be recalled that the facelifted 600h had debuted at the latest Frankfurt Motor Show. The facelifted L version of the LS 600h hybrid has a revised exterior, a reconfigured battery pack and new telematics systems. The luxury hybrid is equipped with a 5.0l V8 gasoline engine, which develops 438 horsepower (0-60mph acceleration is done in 5.5 seconds) and is paired with an eight-speed sequential transmission.

This type of engine typically uses up huge amounts of fuel but since the 600h is a hybrid, fuel consumption figures are kept low. Two motor generators -- MG1 and MG2 -- are used, developing 165 kW and a compact 288-volt DC Nickel Metal Hydride battery pack. The LS recorded an estimated EPA fuel economy rating of 21 mpg (11l/100 km) and meets the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle II (SULEV II) certification, which means that the car emits nearly 70-percent fewer smog-forming emissions than the average new car.

The revised body of the hybrid features a revised front grille and bumper, blue-tinted taillamps, a revised license plate surround and exhaust diffusers and new side mirrors with integrated turn signals. Now offered on the hybrid with a complimentary one-year trial subscription is Lexus' Enform with Safety Connect. It provides owners with Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Location, Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), and Enhanced Roadside Assistance. Making the car more appealing is the added XM Sports and Stocks service, which the company offers with an XM radio subscription, after a 90-day trial subscription.
