The T127, Lotus' formula one car for the 2010 season, debuted at Silverstone last week. Reminiscent of its famous British name's evocative history, the T127 is colored deep green with yellow trim. Lotus was the last outfit to enter the race, making it all the more momentous. Lotus boss Tony Fernandes said that he just loves to finish every race. Mike Gascoyne, the car's technical chief, said that the T127 was designed very quickly beginning September and as a result, is "slightly overweight."
F1 driver Jarno Trulli said that he realizes it won't be easy and that the team is running out of time before Bahrain. Trulli competes alongside teammate, Heikki Kovalainen. In an interview with the BBC, Trulli said that what has been achieved so far had been great but that for this year, they'd have to be realistic and show how reliable, decent, and promising they can be.
Gascoyne expressed shock at having been able to produce the car in only five months. He described the T127 to be a "good, solid, current car." The car will be properly tested at Jerez sometime this week. The launch had been attended by Lotus team founder Colin Chapman's widow Hazel and son Clive.
