2010 Maserati GranCabrio makes its U.K. debut

2010 Maserati GranCabrio

The UK debut of Maserati's new four-seater convertible is Sunday, October 4, at the Goodwood Breakfast Club, only two weeks after it was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is not the first time that Goodwood and Maserati have partnered for such an event. On the very first race meeting on September 18, 1948, Prince Bira entered a Maserati 4CL. At the UK debut, a tribute to the Trident marque will be given. The new 2010 GranCabrio model will join other Maseratis at this Sunday's "Maserati Magnifica" themed Breakfast Club.

Also featured at the event will be the following models: Lamborghini, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat and Ducati. Attendance is free however; a direct vehicle entry to the motor circuit is limited to those arriving in theme-appropriate vehicles. Otherwise, you will be parked up a very short walk from the track. The Maserati GranCabrio features a fabric roof that brings the overall weight of the car close to 2 tons. Powering the vehicle is a 4.7-liter V8 engine that develops a maximum power of 440 hp.

The car is capable of a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) and of accelerating from 0 to sixty in 5.5 seconds. At a charity event in 2010, the UK's first drive of the Maserati GranCabrio was won during the revival of the Queen Charlotte's Ball at the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's Hospital site of Imperial College London. It had raised 60,000 British pounds in support of the Wolfston and Weston Research Centre for Family Health.
