Novitec Tridente Maserati Quattroporte

Maserati has plans to give the next generation of the Quattroporte a boost in performance as the current version hasn't been able to manage a top spot in its class. The existing version has an Italian design that's very enticing but its 4.7 liter naturally aspirated V8 unit delivering 430 hp and 490 Nm of torque couldn't keep up with German rivals coming from M, AMG and Quattro. Maserati plans for its next generation Quattroporte, which is set to arrive in 2014, to offer a lightweight construction and all-wheel-drive.

On the other hand, impatient customers might want to take a look at what Novitec's Maserati dedicated arm, Novitec Tridente, is offering. The tuner gives the current version a complete modification package. The vehicle's V8 powerplant now features a cogged-belt-driven supercharger (maximum boost pressure of 0.35 bar), a water-to-air intercooler, a custom intake manifold and larger injectors, as well as an ECU remap.

The tweaks have boosted the unit's output to 590 hp and 572 Nm of torque. The car is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and hit 124 mph (200 kmh) in 14.9 seconds, while boasting a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h). To handle this much power, the vehicle is equipped with a height-adjustable coilover suspension and custom tree-piece 21 inch alloy rims that have 255/30 tires for the rear axle and 295/30 for the rear one.
