The Mazda CX-7 for the 2010 model year will receive both exterior and interior upgrades to compensate for a skew of engineering improvements done on it. The first of these upgrades can be found in the powerplant itself. The CX-7 will come with the brand new naturally ventilated DOHC 16-valve 2.5-liter MZR 4-cylinder that attains 161hp at 6000rpm with maximum torque of 161lb-ft at 3500rpm. It comes with FWD paired to a 5-speed auto. Included in the top engine choice is the MZR 2.3-liter DISI Turgo (direct injection DOHC 16-valve, 4-cylinder) powerplant.
Yield stays the same at 244hp attained at 5000rpm with 258lb-ft of torque reached at 2,500rpm. Other improvements on the 2010 CX-7 includes body rigidity, reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels including reduction in wind noise. The exterior styling comes with modified front and rear faces with the front receiving the larger five-point grill like that of the modified RX-8, MX-5 and Mazda3.
The interior come with high-end materials, a fresh design for gauges including blackout meters that highlight 3D dials and 3.5 inch supertwisted nematic monochrome and 4.1 inch thin-film transistor color Multi-Information-Display mounted on top of the instrument panel providing the driver unhindered view. It also comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity for wireless applications. Front seats are fitted with 3-position memory function for the driver's seat and power adjustment for the passenger side. The CX-7 also comes with the latest technology like a Blind Monitoring System (also found in the Mazda6 and CX-9) which enables the driver to avoid collision when changing lanes or when merging with traffic. Other important details, such as pricing, trims, and options, will come just before the 2010 CX-7 hits dealerships.
