Even garbage trucks are required to comply with eco-rules. With that in mind, Daimler revealed that the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Econic garbage truck will have the BlueTec EEV as standard on all diesel powered units. As a result, emissions are reduced by 33% when compared to the Euro 5 standard. Aside from the BlueTec EEV, the 2010 Econic garbage truck will also have optimized powertrain and combustion that are aimed at raising performance but reducing wear and tear. Powering the car is a 6.9l M 906 LAG engine, which generates 279 hp, while providing low emission levels. The Econic also has the raising/lowering function that is currently offered as standard on all vehicles. The chassis could then be raised by 200 mm or lowered by 60 mm, making it accommodate demountable bodies.
