2011 Citroen C5 Facelift
Citroen has revealed the new 2011 C5 at the Paris Motor Show. This model, which boasts of styling and technology upgrades, will arrive at showrooms starting in the fourth quarter of 2010. It is offered in both saloon and tourer body styles. Citroen tweaked the headlamps and added LEDs active day and night and a light guide. The look of the headlamps may have changed but its functions remain the same. The car still offers xenon dual-function directional lights and corner lights. The rear lights received a new “Dark Crystal” treatment with clear glass in the central section. When it comes to performance, Citroen made two significant powertrain changes.
The new C5 now features e-HDi micro-hybrid technology. Essentially, Citroen combined second-generation Stop & Start and the electronic gearbox system with the HDi 110 DPFS diesel engine. Citroen also installed steering-wheel paddles and low rolling resistance tires. With these specifications, the new C5 offers comfort in driving as well as a fuel economy rating of 51 mpg (4.6 l/100 km) and a drop in its CO2 emissions level to 120 g/km.
The new C5 is also offered with a new-generation 2.2 liter HDi engine that has an output of 204 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, and is partnered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The saloon type has a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h), can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.3 seconds, and has a combined-cycle consumption of 40 mpg (5.9 l/100 km). Meanwhile, the tourer variety can go as fast as 140 mph (225 km/h), is capable of getting from zero to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.6 seconds, and has a combined-cycle consumption of or 38.5 mpg (6.1 l/100km). The CO2 emissions level for the saloon is at 155 g/km of CO and the Tourer has 159 g/km. What makes this version stand out among the rest is its chrome-finished double tailpipe.
