Ford Motor Co’s new Ka TDCi with standard Ford Auto-Start-Stop technology was recently introduced at the Paris Motor Show. What this offers is improved fuel economy even with the car having to frequently stop at traffic lights and getting into long queues because of heavy traffic. The modifications have improved the fuel economy and CO2 emissions by 3% for both engines. The 1.2 liter Ford Duratec petrol engine offers a combined fuel consumption of 4.9 l/100km (57.6 mpg) and average 115 g/km CO2.
On the other hand, the 1.3-liter TDCi diesel engine has a fuel consumption rating of 4.1 l/100km (68.8 mpg) and CO2 emissions of only 109 g/km. In the Ka, the Ford Auto-Start-Stop system features an advanced battery, a reinforced starter motor and a more powerful alternator.
The voltage stabilizer module and a battery sensor take care of the battery's charging status and the power supply to the electrical components during the cranking phase. The Ka's instrument cluster has been fitted with a shift indicator light to aid the driver in cutting fuel consumption even further. Ford’s ECOnetic lineup has also debuted at the Paris Auto Show.
