Daimler unveiled the smart escooter at the Paris Motor Show. This two-wheeler is claimed to offer the same benefits of the electric smart fortwo: compact dimensions, emissions-free and fun to drive. The vehicle is offered with numerous safety functions that give protection in the crowded city traffic. The features include a special airbag, ABS and Blind Spot Assist. Daimler aims to entice new customers to buy into the brand since a car driving license isn’t required to drive the escooter. Powering the escooter is a disc-shaped wheel hub motor placed in the rear wheel.
The electric unit may be compact but it offers 4 kW (5.4 hp) of power. Daimler claims that the scooter enables the rider to perform swift acceleration maneuvers since the torque is available from the start. A top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h) is what this two-wheeler offers. The escooter is equipped with a 28 volt lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 80 Ah and has a range of up to 62 mph (100 km).
Charging the battery using a standard household outlet takes from 3 to 5 hours. Since the brushless direct current hub drive is mounted in the rear wheel, there is more storage space. The front and the rear wheels, which have a 13-inch size, are placed on single-sided swing arms. The size of the front tire is 130/60 while the rear one has a size of 140/65. The smart escooter has intelligent features including LED technology and a smartphone connection that also comes with a special app.
