Toyota's 2010 4Runner has just been unveiled at the Texas State Fair. While unconfirmed, it is believed that the latest 4Runner will be offered with the same price as the current model. The 2010 4Runner has a fresh look and its interiors were upgraded. Instead of the optional V8 engine, the car now offers a modified 4.0-liter V6 configuration that outputs 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. A 2.7-liter engine is standard; it releases a maximum output of 157 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. A single transmission, a five-speed automatic, is available across the entire range.
Toyota worked on improving the car's off-road abilities; therefore, adding a new suspension design with double wishbones up front and a solid axle at the rear. It is speculated that the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) is available as an option. For the best off-road experience, Toyota equipped the car with a new system that allows the vehicle to better control the throttle, the traction control and braking. For its interiors, Toyota revised the dashboard and introduced new radio, gauges, and climate controls. The unchanged pricing is an attempt to boost sales of the model since in the last few months, the 4Runner had declining sales. Despite the $28,640 price set by Toyota, sales of the car dropped 63% last August. Toyota's Tahara factory in Japan is manufacturing the 4Runner.
