Toyota's Auris for model year 2010 will get exterior and interior enhancements. For the UK consumers, the Auris will be fitted with a new grille and bumpers. There will also be slight differences to the headlights, taillights, and the bonnet. The source says that definitely, new alloy wheels will be offered. Whether they´ll be offered as standard or optional is anyone's guess. The interior of the Auris is offered with new color options and different materials. For the top versions, there will be some equipment upgrades. The 1.8-liter powerplant is upgraded with variable valve timing.
In addition, paddle shifters on the steering wheel were placed on the CVT versions. Moreover, a hybrid version of the Auris is in the works and is set to be released in the UK in 2010. It's anticipated that Toyota will receive funding from the British government to build the Auris hybrid in local plants. However, we´ll all just have to wait for the official announcement that's expected by the end of the year. All we know about the hybrid Auris is that it will rely on the same technology as the Prius and it will be offered at a lower price. Those carmakers offering cheaper hybrids now or in 2010 will have to consider the threat this move poses. Testing for Toyota first Auris hybrids will begin in the UK in 2010.
