2010 Toyota Mark X revealed ahead of Tokyo Motor Show

2010 Toyota Mark XToyota’s latest X saloon — a rear-drive Mark X — is intended to match the BMW 5-Series as closely as possible but for one major difference. The Toyota version is priced thousands of pounds less. Set to be formally unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show this Wednesday, the latest generation Mark X that measures 4730 mm will only be released in Japan and in some parts of Asia .

The latest Mark X is available in three grades: standard, premium and sports type. Boosting the model’s dynamics and image are some features fueled by Lexus technology. The buyers can choose from two types of petrol V6 engines. The 200bhp 2.5-litre engine is a detuned version of the 4GR-FSE unit from the Lexus IS250. On the other hand, the 314bhp 3.5-litre engine is shared with the Lexus GS350. A six-speed auto transmission is standard. The Mark X has front double-wishbone and rear multilink suspension, making it not that different from the Lexus IS/GS family. The difference is that Mark X’s cabin is more conventional and gives off a more workmanlike feel. For now, there are no plans for the Mark X to be sold in Europe. Photo gallery after the jump!
