It‚ becoming clearer that the appeal of the Toyota Prius knows no boundaries as even Top Gear has chosen the Toyota Prius as the City Car of the Year. In the UK, demand for the new Prius has been very high, attracting more than 4,000 customer orders since going on sale in August.
According to Top Gear‚ special awards issue magazine currently on sale, Top Gear praised the technology of the new Prius and its 72.4mpg and 89g/km figures generated by this five-door hatch. Conor McNicholas, BBC Top Gear Editor, said that Toyota‚ refinements to this car for over 3 generations have resulted to ‚Äúsomething quite ground-breaking.‚Äù The Top Gear awards, which are selected by the TV, magazine and online teams, look for the most exciting and innovative cars launched in the past year. With its full hybrid technology, Prius is ideal for slow moving city traffic. It can run purely on electric power for certain distances, reducing both fuel consumption and tailpipe CO2 emissions to zero.
