2011 Audi A3 e-Tron: official images details, and specs

Audi’s A3 e-Tron has been unveiled, showing off an electric motor that’s capable of generating 136PS (100 kW) and 270Nm (200 lb-ft). Audi A3 e-Tron is based on the Sportback version and it is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 145 km/h (90 mph).

Its power unit has a weight of about 65kg and it provides 82PS (60 kW) of non-stop power. All the power is distributed to the front wheels via a single gear transmission.

Its electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that’s located under the rear seats and on the luggage compartment’s floor. The batteries have a 300kg weight and they can provide 26.5kWh of energy at 380 volts. With this set-up, the A3 e-Tron provides 265 liters of luggage space.

With this level of power, the vehicle can go as far as 140 km but its range actually falls very quickly when the vehicle is in the dynamic mode. Efficiency is what the other mode is called. This provides a full range. Recharging takes 9 hours to complete on a regular 230V socket, but the time is cut in half when a 400V socket is used.
